WWII era Australian military magazine fed bolt action service rifle chambered in .303 British, manufactured circa 1941. Features a parkerized finish, 25.2" barrel, raised patridge front sight, shrouded leaf type rear sight graduated to 2,000 yards, metal nosecap with bayonet lug & protective front sight ears, single barrel band, serrated trigger, detachable 10 round magazine, manual safety on the left side of the receiver, green canvas sling, charge loading bridge on the receiver, smooth full-length wood hand guard & forend and straight grip shoulder stock with inlayed brass disk on the right side & brass trapdoor buttplate. Matching serial numbers are found on the receiver and bolt handle with no numbers observed elsewhere. The right side of the butt socket is marked "M A/LITHGOW/S.M.L.E./III*/1941" and the stock is marked “R/MA/4/47” & “AUSTRALIA”. Rifle retains approximately 40% of its arsenal finish showing scattered wear and thinning with a brown patina comprising the balance. Action is smooth, the bore shows good luster & rifling with scattered pitting and the wood stocks are near good with scattered blemishes and a ¼” crack in the forend forward of the butt socket on the right side.
