Lot of Two (2) Antique Single Shot Percussion Pistols, (1.) Large Bore Likely European Coat Pistol, NVSN, approx. .62 cal., 5'' octagonal-to-round barrel marked ''B'' on both angled flats with associated marks (illegible), all iron furniture, flat lockplate with rounded pointed tail is twice stamped ahead of the hammer ''Jugand'' (one upside-down under the other), military style spring-retained double-strap front barrel band, triggerguard with elongated finials, rounded buttcap with long top tang, serpentine sideplate stamped ''PB'' with associated marks, original iron ramrod with button tip, hardwood fullstock with circular proof- or unit mark stamped to left side. Condition is about good having an overall brown color with light overall age pitting to metal; nose of hammer worn through where it contacts overly long nipple; buttcap missing bottom retaining screw. Stock is sound showing age and wear commensurate with possible military (naval?) use. Action functions well; smoothbore appears dark. (2.) Large Bore Likely European (perhaps Mideastern or made for the Mideastern Trade) Pistol, NVSN, approx. .64 cal., 9.5'' octagonal-to-round barrel decorated with floral-type heavy gold inlays but otherwise unmarked; large sheet brass barrel retaining band, unmarked flat iron lockplate with pointed tail; brass leaf-shaped sideplate, triggerguard and oval buttcap. Plain hardwood fullstock not fitted for ramrod has a scalloped design down backstrap area behind barrel tang. Condition is about good showing a dark brown patina mixed with occasional erosion to iron parts and an aged patina to brass. Stock is sound showing wear and possible sanding with a large horizontal crack at wrist. Action functions; nipple a modern replacement; smoothbore with dark rusting. Est.: $250-$400/lot. (Antique)
