Lot of Three (3) Antique Military Rifles: (1) Remington Rolling Block Breechloading Cartridge Saddle Ring Carbine, altered from a rifle perhaps by the famed Freund brothers of Cheyenne, whose ''Freund & Bro.'' mark appears at breech, #855, .45 CF cal., 26.5'' round barrel has open sights (front blade missing); receiver was altered with a hinged breechblock having a floating firing pin (missing), perhaps by the Freunds, top tang marked ''Patent May 26, 74''; two-piece oil-finished walnut stocks, forend with single spring-retained band, buttstock with curved steel buttplate. Condition is fair, the metal having all-over rust and pitting (but good markings). Stocks are rough with heavy nicks/dings, buttstock broken at wrist with losses, severe cracks and a screw repair at tang. Action does not hold cock; bore very dark and pitted with fair rifling. (2) Likely European 3-Band Muzzleloading Percussion Musketoon, NVSN, .80 cal./8 ga., 29.25'' round barrel has left-breech markings obscured by rust/pitting, unusual beveled lockplate has hinged nipple protector at front, marked ''Wascara(?)'' (illegible) ahead of hammer and ''184?'' and ''104'' behind; brass fittings include trigger guard with sling loop at front and long iron rear tang, serpentine sideplate, three spring-retained barrel bands (middle with sling loop, front of the double-strap type with integral blade sight) retaining the steel ramrod; oil-finished hardwood fullstock with iron buttplate, has numerous regimental/rack marks at right side. Condition is good, the steel showing heavy rust/pitting overall, brass a dark patina. Stock is solid with losses at front of lock, behind front band. Action functions; smoothbore with patches of heavy corrosion esp. toward muzzle. (3) Civil War Muzzleloading Percussion Musket, by Parker, Snow & Co., altered to sporting shotgun/forager, NVSN, approx. 18 ga./64 cal., 29'' round barrel is without sights; beveled lockplate is marked ''(spread-wing eagle)U.S.'' and ''Parker Snow & Co./Meriden, Conn.'' ahead of hammer, ''1863'' behind; steel trigger guard, curved buttplate and single barrel band; one-piece halfstock marked ''#42'' in ink at left. Condition is good as altered, the metal with a dark patina and rust pitting ranging from light to heavy, nipple smashed, good markings. Stock is solid with loss behind nipple, many dings on forend and rounded nose where shortened. Action is stout; smoothbore shows moderate overall erosion. Est.: $400-$700/Lot. (Antique)
