Lot of Two (2) Cavalry Sabers: 1.) Solingen Made Spanish Contract M1852 Cavalry Saber with Scabbard; 32"curved, single edged flat back blade with 3/4 length fuller. Marked on left side of the blade "MARCA DE FABRICA" over a "(Knight's Head)" trademark symbol, with "FABRICA DE ARMAS/DE/W.R.KIRSCHBALM/SOLINGEN" on the right side. Overall length is 37.5", with dove's head pommel, grooved wooden grip secured with tab and pin, steel ferrule, pierced three-bar basket guard, and forward rolled quillon. Condition is fair, the tip of the blade has broken off and is now rounded and the blade was bent and straightened approx. 3" to the rear. All metal has been cleaned and polished. Steel scabbard has a single loose ring and has been cleaned bright; now in good condition, showing an area of rust along the inner spine. 2.) Very faintly and partially marked on left side blade "ICH/U" with "J.M/1865" on the right side, and an additional "M" and "JM" stamped into the rear of the pommel; 41"OAL with ridged pommel, grooved brown leather covered wooden grip secured with two strand brass wire, three bar brass guard, with forward rolled top edge. Condition is fair with the cleaned and polished blade showing areas of pitting and patina to both sides with a dent to the edge, 8"behind the point. Handle fits tightly to the blade but the guard fits loosely to the handle. Est.: $400-$700/lot.
