Lot of Two (2) Swords: 1.) Chinese Officer's Sword from the early 20th Century. Plain Japanese katana-shaped blade measures 25.5'' in length. Handle is brass with engraved floral and stippled decorations. Wood grip with snakeskin covering, wrapped with a single untwisted wire. Long cast brass ''D'' guard with crude floral decoration. Nice nickel-plated scabbard is the right length, but a bit better quality than the sword. Overall length is 35.5''. 2.) British Officer's Sword, WW1 era, with plain nickel-plated 32.5'' blade. Wide single fuller with proofmark roundel. No visible maker's mark. Brass three-bar guard with George V cipher. Checkered brass backstrap, sharkskin-covered wood grip with triple twisted wire wrapping. Wood scabbard with replaced leather covering. Nice bright blade; brass handle has wear from frequent polishing. Both are in fair condition overall. Est.: $200-$400/lot.
