M1 Garand Rifle from WWII
The M1 Garand rifle was “A Soldier's Best Friend.” As General George S. Patton wrote during WWII: “In my opinion, the M1 Rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.”

This rifle is an awesome piece of American history in .30-06 caliber, made by Winchester Repeating Arms during WWII. This rifle is in really nice condition and proudly shows the nicks and dents in the wooden stock from its wartime service. It sports the milled trigger guard indicative of the earlier Garands before they switched to a stamped metal trigger guard. You can be sure this rifle was rained on, snowed on, been hot in the sun and hot from firing. It may have been in Pacific battles like Iwo Jima or Okinawa. Maybe it saw action in Normandy or experienced the brutal cold of the Battle of the Bulge. It should be wearing a blue hat that says “WWII Veteran” and bellied up to the bar at the VFW where younger M16s and M4s buy it drinks and listen to its stories.

Included: an authentic WWII bayonet, a soldier’s ammo bandolier, and six “en bloc” clips loaded with .30-06 ammunition. It’s as ready for action today as it was 80 years ago. You’ll be the envy of the rifle range and the coolest dude in your club. Also, the winner of this rifle will be invited to attend a CMP Service Rifle Clinic and an M1 Cleaning Clinic as a guest at the Aurora Sportsmen’s Club.

This rifle is donated in memory of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Leon Rimkus, Jr., 943rd FABn, who served from 1940 through 1945. He fought in the European theater with Patton’s Third Army, from Utah Beach through France, Belgium and Germany.

Value: Priceless.

We thank Dale and Marla Rimkus for this 100% donation.
