AND NUMBERED 237. Cal. 54. S# 237. Bbl. measures 10 1/16”. Of a total number of 4,096 pistols produced, a 2,880 M1805 pistols were manufactured at Harper's Ferry dated 1807. Of these 2,880 pistols, only 303 examples dated 1807 are known to have survived to present day in various collections. Proofed on the left side with eagle head over “P” & “US” in an oval. The serial number “237" is stamped in front of the US proof. Artificially aged and subsequently cleaned. Lock features a spread winged American eagle over “US” in front of the cock and “HARPERS FERRY 1807” to the rear of the cock. Brass trigger guard, buttcap, side plate, nose band & entry thimble. There is an iron ramrod thimble below the iron rib under the bbl. No ramrod. CONDITION: good as restored. Stock is exact reproduction with new inspector cartouche, well fit to original flint configuration lock, which is cleaned and pitted. Bbl has been buffed out and recolored, proofs all discernible. Thimble is an accurately cast reproduction, ramrod rig is probably a restoration also. Mechanically fine w/ clean smooth bore. (01-21484/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
