MAGNIFICENT CARVED WOODEN ATLANTIC SALMON MODEL

BY THE RENOWNED FIRM OF P.D. MALLOCH OF PERTH, SCOTLAND. P.D. Malloch is a famous old-time tackle shop in Perth which employed professional Scottish model makers who would create exact copies of your trophy fish. Malloch models divided up into 3 categories referred to as the early Malloch maker 1900-1922, the middle Malloch maker 1920s to the early 1930s, and the late Malloch maker from 1934-1952. Based on the date which this fish was caught, the model maker would have been referred to as a middle Malloch maker. Many fisherman consider the Atlantic salmon one of the most revered sporting fish in the world and at least to those fishermen, these fish are truly beautiful. A model such as this, clearly exemplifies how wonderful these fish are. This exact model is of a 30 pound Salmon caught in 1933 in the famous Upper Stoball Beat on the river Tay. The river Tay is considered by many one of the finest salmon rivers in Great Britain. SIZE: Plaque is approx. 53” l and reflects wonderfully carved and painted detail. CONDITION: The model is mounted on a board with bread board ends and a small paper tag affixed beneath the trophy indicates the details regarding the catch. The fish model is in wonderful condition having original surface. There are a few minor scrapes or dents on the plaque and the small repair to the bread board end of the background plaque. These plaques were mounted on walls and had holes drilled through the mounting board and such is the case here. This is truly a magnificent and beautiful model of an Atlantic salmon.
