SINGLE ACTION PERCUSSION REVOLVER WITH ACCESSORIES. Cal. 36. S# 6694. Bbl. 5". Naval Service Model single action percussion revolver mfg. by the Manhattan Fire Arms Manufacturing Company. Top flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked with Manhattan Firearm's single line address. Cyl. is marked with patent information along the rear and features 5 assorted vignettes around the circumference between foliate engraving with floral motifs. Bbl. and loading lever exhibit a tin plated finish. Brass trigger guard and rear grip strap with 1-piece plain wood grip. German silver half-moon blade front sight and hammer notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, to include the frame, trigger guard, rear grip strap, cyl. base pin, and bbl. Cyl. S# is largely illegible, although it does appear to read "6 (ILLEGIBLE NUMBER) 9". Percussion nipples are contemporary replacements. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: contemporary wood display case containing an original 2-cavity Manhattan Fire Arms bullet mold. CONDITION: frame, hammer, and trigger have faded to a gray patina, exhibiting light pitting and some superficial handling marks overall. Bbl. and loading lever exhibit a layer of apparent verdigris or wax, retaining fair amounts of nickel plating beneath. Relatively bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of moderate pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately with all but 1 cyl. chamber, where the cyl. fails to rotate. Grip shows scattered marks and some impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise presents nicely. (01-29415/MLW). ANTIQUE. $650-900.
