MARLIN RARE 26  MODEL 1889 LEVER ACTION RIFLE.
Cal. 32-W. (32-20). S# 95503. Bbl. 26" octagon having vintage Marble's brass bead front sight & elevator adjustable semi buckhorn rear. Rare bbl. length (most 24" or 28") of less than 3,000. Mfg. 1894 (1889-1899; approx. 55,000 units w/ in S# 25000-100000) w/ case colored lever, hammer & buttplate. Caliber marking w/ just "W" as Marlin didn't want to credit Winchester by putting "32 W.C.F.". Blued w/ short throw lever & side ejection. High grade walnut stock that appears original having unusual shaped diminutive cheekpiece. CONDITION: very good overall w/ most wear confined to brown patina toned receiver, forend cap & bolt. Very good bbl. & mag. tube finish w/ light edge wear on bbl. Traces of case colors remaining; lever best appearing & buttplate w/ least amount having silvered tone. Stock set appears to have original finish w/ light handling marks throughout. Light trigger pull. Light marks on interior of left receiver wall behind chamber. Slight brown patina tone to rear of tang, evidence of prior tang sight installation & improper plug screws installed (appears no compromise to tapped holes). Very good bright shiny bore w/ faint wear. (01-23348/NW). ANTIQUE. $750-1,000.
