POSTAL SERVICE MARKINGS. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 59792. Bbl. 23 3/4". All visible #s match except cleaning rod. Receiver is marked on left rail "MAUSER - WERKE A-G OBERNDORF A/N" receiver ring has "BUGN" proofs; receiver marked on top w/ Mauser banner dated "1933". Marked on left side of chamber w/ Weimar "droop wing" eagle. Rifle is scarce commercial type Mauser used by the German P.O.; buttstock has circular "D.R.P." on left side; sling slot is additionally marked w/ upper case "DRP." & "Kln"; Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters; inverted V front sight; all milled furniture; H type upper band retained by pin; lower band retained by short band spring. Walnut stock set w/ grasping grooves; side sling & flat steel buttplate. Guard screws are unmarked; rear locking screw is not present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: steel muzzle cover; end cover marked "KS42/GK167". CONDITION: stock set lightly cleaned w/ light wear scratches & handling marks; notable scorched area on left side of butt. Forend has extensive repair between bbl. bands; metal has 80% blue w/ thinning, light wear & handling marks; receiver ring has been lightly polished w/ added blue. Very good shiny bore. (20-2947/RW).
