DOUBLE TRIGGER GAME GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 90278. The 28" demibloc bbls. fitted with matted solid rib are marked "GEBR. MERKEL SUHL" "MADE IN GDR" on left ejector housing and outlined with some shaded scroll, which is on both housings. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped with September 1974 East German Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers and with 2006(?) Vienna proofs. Coin finished double kirsten O/U action without underbolts features nonautomatic safety, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers (front articulated) as well as hand detachable sidelocks with H&H type takedown screw on right lockplate. Action and lockplates are engraved with near full coverage very well cut large shaded scroll within zigzag borders. Triggerplate is stamped with Suhl blacksmith logo. Blued steel trigger guard has matching scroll on bow. Very nicely marbled and lightly figured dark European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 3/8" over thin black rifle pad. Stock features small shadowline right hand cheekpiece, point pattern grip checkering, and sling loop on forend, matching that soldered to bottom of bbl. Matching splinter 3 piece forend has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: T .722", B .721". Restriction: T .042" (EXTRA FULL), B .027" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: T .034", B .036". STOCK: DAH: 2 3/8+". DAC: 1 3/8+". LOP: 14 3/8". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 9 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black plastic case. CONDITION: very fine. Bbls. retaining 85-90% original blue, silvered on sharp edges of rib with some fading overall. Action retains nearly all of its coin finish with some slight darkening on bottom. Trigger guard has some spotting on bow and light silvering on tang. Top lever thumbpiece is silvered. Stocks have a good number of marks and dings in their original oil finish with some deeper marks on face of cheekpiece and right side of butt above sling loop. Bores are bright and shiny, without noted problems. Action is tight. Mechanically fine. Ejectors in time. PROVENANCE: "Save the Fine Guns".
