MODEL 1803 HARPERS FERRY FLINTLOCK MUSKET

RECONVERTED FROM PERCUSSION. Cal. 54. NSN. Later production w/ 36" half rnd., half oct. bbl., front portion w/ under rib. V notch rear sight fitted. Eagle "P" & "US" proofs on upper left rear bbl. flat. Stamped on both upper left & right flats "J MCGUIRE". Lock reconverted w/ reproduction parts has eagle stamp in front of cock & is marked "HARPERS" " FERRY" "819" on tail (no 1). Walnut half stock is brass mounted w/ band & nicely shaped thimble at front, trigger guard w/ grip spur, buttplate w/ release for distinctive brass patch box on right side of butt. Left side has sm. cheek rest. CONDITION: bbl. dark brown patina, sharp edges rounded. Lock cleaned to gray brown. Wood w/ old refinish. Brass nicely toned. Bore, remarkably, is bright & shiny. There is evidence of major repair of stock through lock area w/ brass plate in cock mortise where it can't be seen & lg. area of epoxy in fill in right side plate area. Sideplate appears to be a reproduction. Lock is operable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19713/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
