Machine Gun Unit Marked 1916 Dated DWM Model 1914 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, #1140n, 9mm cal., 4" barrel, rust blue finish, straw colored small parts, checkered walnut grips, inverted-V front sight, fixed rear sight with small V-notched groove, with stock lug. Includes one non-matching tin-plated magazine with wood base, numbered "7187i". Pistol is marked "DWM" on the toggle, with "1916" date above the chamber. Right side of receiver with three "(crown)/gothic letter" proofs and test fire proof. Top right side of barrel with another test fire proof. Front grip strap is unit marked "M.G.S.S.ABT.8 / 2.K. 57", for Maschinen-Gewehr-Scharfschutzen, the scarce machine gun sharpshooters unit. All visible numbers matching (excluding the magazine), including both grips and firing pin. Condition is fine, retaining approx. 90% original blue with wear at the muzzle, edges, wear and patina to the sideplate, typical scattered small marks associated with age and use. Both front and back strap display specks of light frosting and patina around the unit markings. Factory lettering and proof marks are clear. Small parts retain approx. 80%-85% straw colors, which show areas of thinning and toning. Grip condition is consistent with the rest of the pistol, no significant blemishes; checkering is primarily crisp. Action functions smoothly but the hold open does not function with this magazine. Bore is bright throughout with very good, defined rifling. Magazine body shows moderate yellow toning and minor marks to the base. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (C&R/PPT)
