Mannlicher-Schonauer Model 1903 System 1930 Carbine Sporting Rifle, #6673b, 7mm, 19" barrel, blued finish, ramp front sight with replaceable round bead, drift adjustable fixed rear sight with "V" notch, claw mounts for scope (no scope present), spoon-handle bolt with round cocking knob, military type safety lever, rotary internal magazine, double set adjustable triggers, full length hard wood carbine stock with Monte Carlo cheekpiece, metal end cap, old red rubber recoil pad, and adjustable leather sling. "NP" Austrian proof mark on receiver, and St. Michael proof mark on receiver and bolt. Matching numbers on bolt and bolt pieces. The System 1930 marked actions were used by the Greek military, and some leftover pieces were bought by Stoeger and made into sporting rifles. Stoeger did not mark them, and this may be one of those rifles. 14-5/8" LOP to front trigger. Condition is very good as possibly refinished, the stamped markings and proofs are a bit worn looking. Bluing on the action and barrel is about 95%, with some spots of finish loss on the barrel, at the base of the front sight ramp. Bluing on the bolt shows wear from use. Safety lever and bolt release have a plum color. Magazine base shows some light freckling and tiny scratches. Trigger guard tang shows losses to the finish in the grip area. Horn end cap on the pistol grip shows some scratches. Bore is bright and shiny. Set triggers and safety work properly. Stock has been refinished, with heavy sanding to the wood so as to create gaps in the metal-to-wood fit around the magazine, action rear tang, trigger guard tang, and metal end cap. Wood has been re-varnished to include the checkering. There are some visible sanding marks, and a couple of small dings and scratches, and minor wood loss on top edge near the front sight ramp on the left side. Old rubber recoil pad is hard and deformed, with chipping to the edges and heel and toe. Leather sling is in very good condition. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (C&R)
