Marlin Model 93 Lever Action Short Rifle or Carbine, #A762, .30 WCF (.30-30) cal., 20'' half round-half octagonal barrel, buckhorn type sights, marked with maker's name, address and 1887-89-93 patent dates on top flat, ''30-30'' at breech, and ''Special Smokeless Steel'' on left angled flat; half mag tube below; receiver with right-side cartridge loading and ejection ports is marked ''Marlin Safety'' flanked by feather-like finials on top, ''Marlin/Model 93'' on upper tang (has two tapped holes, one vacant, likely for a tang sight now missing) and ser. no. on lower, loop operating lever; varnished walnut forend with steel nosecap, and matching buttstock with curved steel buttplate. Mfg'd post-1898, originally with blued barrel and mag tube, case hardened receiver, lever, hammer and buttplate. Condition is fine+. Barrel and mag tube retain approx. 90% original blue (barrel markings are light but assumed stamped that way as edges are sharp and finish appears original); receiver, lever and hammer show 75% case colors amid scattered silvering, buttplate is dark gunmetal showing some light erosion. Stocks are smooth and solid showing normal use/handling marks and refinishing to buttstock. Action is smooth; bore is bright with overall light frosting and good rifling. Est.: $700-$1,000. (C&R)
