'Lightweight Model' lever action rifle manufactured circa 1886. Features 28" lighter profile octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, buckhorn sights, straight grip, steel crescent buttplate. Bore is fair to good condition, frosted & lightly pitted with strong rifling. Barrel & magazine tube show a mottled coloration with patina brown and lighter gray coloration. Receiver shows mostly gray colored bare metal with darker flecks of cleaned patina, with some small areas of shallow pitting. Buttplate is brown colored from even patina coverage with scattered remnants of darker gray or black coloration that appears to be paint. Screw slots show signs of the use of incorrectly shaped screwdrivers. Forend is fair condition, a bit loose, showing dents & cracks. Butt is good condition, dented & scratched, fancy figured grain visible thru a darkened & stained surface, some wood loss at corners of tang. Lever operates smoothly. Markings are generally sharp & readable, with overlaid patina. Condition is NRA Very Good *** Antique Firearm ***
