Rifle. Lever-Action. Manufactured 1904. Different from Winchesters in that it was side-ejecting. 26" octagonal barrel, with post/bead front and sporting rear sights. Half length magazine. Stamped with Marlin address, patent dates on top along with 38-55. "Special smokeless steel" on the side. "Marlin Safety" on top of receiver, and Model 1893 on tang. Smooth walnut stock, and forearm, buttplate is covered with a brown leather recoil pad marked "Kirkpatrick Laredo, Tex". Bore appears good with rifling present. Action is crisp/tight .Wood is fair with some minor scratches/dings, there is a narrow 6" chip out of the top of the left forearm. Wood has been varnished. Barrel is a dull blue/plum color receiver/lever are mostly in the white from handling. Comes with a Cody museum letter showing this rifle, in the same configuration, was shipped August 14, 1905 from the factory. A newer made peep sight has been attached to the tang. NRA condition-Good.
