Marlin Model 1894 .25-20 SN: 202334
Take-down lever action rifle manufactured circa 1900. Features 24" octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, buckhorn sights, straight grip, steel crescent buttplate. Bore is poor to fair condition, dark & pitted with visible rifling. Blued parts retain majority coverage of finish, mostly turned patina brown color, thinning at all sharp edges, much bare metal showing at rear half of receiver (appears cleaned of patina or shallow pitting). Bottom of receiver and receiver extension show numerous small strikes near the takedown latch. Buttplate is a medium silvery gray color, has been filed or ground at toe to better fit the stock. Screw heads are good with some marring of slots. Wood is very good condition, generally good fit to metal, visible scratches & dents, a newer coat of varnish applied. Action is smooth. Most markings are crisp; serial number on receiver is partially eroded from impact damage. Includes letter from Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center describing features for this rifle contained in the original Marlin factory records. Condition is NRA Good+ (varnished wood) *** C&R Firearm ***
