Marlin Model 1895 .45-90 SN: 138313
Large frame ever action rifle manufactured circa 1896. Features 26" octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, dovetailed blade front sight, semi-buckhorn sporting rear sight, straight grip, crescent buttplate. Bore is very good condition. Barrel and magazine tube retain 85% deep blued finish, the remainder shows some fading. Slight edge losses. Several areas of the barrel have small patches of old pitting (appears under the blue), or show a slight change in the generally brushed finished metal texture. Action retains very good case color, with mottled bright colors including golden and bright blue colors throughout, some light patina, streaking of the texture. Buttplate is case colored, beautiful near perfect colors with much golden hue. Wood is very good condition walnut, varnished, small dents & in many places, some oil staining where stock meets receiver tangs. Very good wood to metal fit, with buttplate slightly proud along edges. Some stickers on butt should remove easily with careful use of a varnish safe oil or solvent. Action is smooth. Markings are deep and readable, some erosion of "MARLIN SAFETY" and the trailing "arrow" symbol atop receiver. Very early production year for this rifle. Condition is NRA Very Good+ *** Antique Firearm ***
