Marlin No 47 .22 S/L/LR SN: 2679
Rare and very collectable the Marlin No 47 was only offered in 1930-1931 as a gift to purchasers of 4 shares of Marlin stock for $100. It is a takedown version very much like the model 20 but the 47 has checkering on the buttstock and forearm and had a cyanide case-colored frame. This rifle has lost all case-coloring on the frame and bolt. The book Marlin Firearms by Brophy says it should have a 23" barrel this one measures 22" (others seen have 22" as well). This gun has dovetailed front and rear sights, tube magazine, smooth trigger and knurled hammer spur. The metal finish has lost most of the blue and has a grey patina on most. The wood stocks look fine for the age, no cracks but used. The stocks have been varnished or lacquered and there are specks of yellow paint(?) that should come off. The metal butt plate has significant surface rust. The bore looks good, dusty. LOP is 13.5". Condition is NRA Good *C&R Firearm*
