James Earp was the older brother of Wyatt Earp. James served as Deputy Sheriff of Dodge City, Kansas under Sheriff Bussett. James moved to Tombstone in 1879 to join his brothers, Wyatt and Virgil. He opted to serve as manager of the saloon and gambling parlor. Hence, he was not at the O.K. Corral gunfight. James acted as armed escort to move the family in relocation to Colton, California. Wyatt and Warren continued their feud and hunted down those they felt responsible for the murder of Morgan Earp and wounding of Virgil. James lived for a short time in Idaho, but mostly the family spent their days in Colton, Ca. From a well respected Frontier History Collection. Antique firearm
