The Real Deal
This is an original 1882 Martini-Henry (the exact kind used in the Zulu Wars) and is 1of 5,000 that were shipped from England to Canada for the North West Mounted Police. It was for the 5th B.C. Regiment. But soon after, the NWMP switched to the Snider, mothballing the MH's. That explains it's excellent condition.
Enfield dated 1882 MKIII Martini-Henry Canadian issued rifle in 577-450, and is one of the 5000 MKII and MKIII Martinis acquired by Canada in 1885. This is one of the 5000 as originally ordered and one that survived the various scrap sales by the Canadian Government.
