Vintage Swedish contract military bolt-action Mauser short rifle chambered for 6.5x55mm Swedish, and manufactured circa 1900 in Germany by Mauser Oberndorf, A/N. Import marks were not observed. Rifle features a blued finish, an approximately 29-1/2" barrel with a threaded muzzle, smooth thread protector, patridge front sight, elevation adjustable ladder style rear sight graduated to 600 meters on top and 2,000 meters on the bottom, bayonet lug on the front barrel band, cleaning rod under the barrel, smooth curved trigger, internal 5-round box magazine, stripper clip guide cut into the receiver, straight bolt handle, bolt release mounted on the left receiver rail, three-position manual flag type safety on the bolt, milled trigger guard, and a military style floor plate. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth straight gripped shoulder stock, smooth handguard, smooth finger grooved forend, brass "Torped/Overslag" stock disc inlet on the right side, sling swivel on the rear barrel band, sling swivel on the bottom of the shoulder stock, and a smooth metal butt plate. Serial numbers '39455' match on the receiver, bolt(in four places), butt plate, magazine floorplate, rear sight leaf and slider, and barrel bands. Crown proofs are marked on several components, and stock cartouches are faint but present. The Torped/Overslag disc reads 6.52 for bore diameter, '0' for Overslag, and '2' for bore condition. The original blued finish retained is approximately 70% with normal handling marks and edgewear, with the finish taking on a mottled gray patina. Metal displays some nicks and dings on some of the metal edges, and there is light oxidation on the butt plate. There also appears to be some sort of staining on the barrel. Action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. Furniture wood is in good condition with historically significant handling marks.
NRA Condition-Good.
