Vintage German pistol chambered for the 6.35mm / 25acp cartridge.1910 Sidelatch, Manufactured from 1909 to 1913, serial number range 1-61000. Type 3, serial numbers 14600-61000, serial number 33128 places it to early 1912. Features blued finish, Early variant black hard rubber grips featuring the prominent "WM" (Waffenfabrik Mauser) intertwined monogram, 3" barrel, fixed sights, manual safety, heel magazine catch. Slide is marked on right side: 'Crown over U' inspection stamp on right slide and barrel lug . left side of slide is marked 'WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A -G OBERNDORF A. N. MAUSER"S PATENT' "Mauser" Banner on left frame. Matched serial number on left slide,rear of frame, front of barrel plate and barrel lug. Bore is very good/bright, strong rifling. Retains about 85% original blue finish with minor holster/edge wear, the trigger retains most of it's bright nitre blue finish. Grips are excellent, action is smooth. Includes one unmarked, 9 hole, 9 round magazine. The rear of the grip is etched with a 12 digit number starting with "304" and has a "Z" prefix, the front strap is etched "Z-340" and the left side of the trigger is etched "JK Z". The "Z" markings are for Zollwache (Customs Service): The most common issuer of "Z" inventory prefixes on post-war firearms was the West German Zoll (Customs) and Zollgrenzdienst (Border Customs Service). They issued small, concealable .25 ACP (6.35mm) pistols to undercover agents, border inspectors, and financial investigators or for Zentralamt (Central Office of Police) The Mauser Model 1910 "Side Latch" is a scarce and collectible variant. While roughly 61,000 were manufactured between 1911 and 1913, far fewer remain in circulation today with matching numbers.
