Mauser 42 Code 1940 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, #5137i, 9mm cal., 4" barrel, blue finish including small parts, checkered walnut grips, inverted-"V" front sight, fixed rear sight with small "V"-notched groove, with stock lug. Includes one blued steel magazine with aluminum base; numbered "6857o +" and "(eagle)/?3" on the base. Pistol is marked "42" on toggle link with "1940" date on top of chamber. Right side of receiver with two "(eagle)/655" proofs and Nazi eagle firing proof. Right side of barrel with firing proof, left side "(eagle)655". All visible numbers matching, including the firing pin; grips are not numbered but have "(eagle)/655" proofs on the backside. Condition is very good overall, retaining a mixture of approx. 70%-75% thinning/toning blue, and mottled brown patina. There are a few spots of scattered mild pitting on the barrel and receiver; salt and pepper blemishes to the front and backstrap. Factory lettering and proof marks are clear. Grips displays signs of moderate age and handling wear, with intermittent spots of flattening to the checkering detail. Action and hold open function properly. Bore is primarily bright, with a little intermittent visible pitting and frosting; rifling is well-defined. Magazine shows moderate wear. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (C&R/PPT)
