Mauser 42 Code 1940 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, #8106f, 9mm cal., 4" barrel, blue finish including small parts, checkered walnut grips, inverted-V front sight, fixed rear sight with small V-notched groove, with stock lug. Includes two (2) extruded body magazines with blue finish and aluminum base; one matches the pistol and other does not. Both are marked on the left side near the top "(eagle)/37"; near the bottom "122" and "(eagle)/37". Also includes a vintage, unmarked tan leather holster with dual magazine pouch on the front. Pistol fits well inside of the holster but the spare magazine sticks out approx. 1" above the pouch. Pistol is marked "42" on toggle link with "1940" date above the chamber. Right side of receiver with two "(eagle)/655" proofs and Nazi eagle firing proof. Right side of barrel with firing proof, left side "(eagle)655". All visible numbers matching, including the firing pin and grips. Pistol is in good condition, retaining approx. 85% original blue, showing wear at the muzzle, along the barrel, to the high points and edges. There are a few spots of light pitting on the right side, freckles of rust patina to the toggle, frosting to the front and backstrap. Factory lettering and most of the proof marks are clear; proof marks on the sides of the barrel are partially legible. Grips display signs of moderate age and handling wear. Action and hold open function properly. Bore is primarily bright, with a little intermittent frosting; rifling is well-defined. Matching magazine shows considerable thinning to the blue finish and scattered freckles of patina. Non-matching magazine shows moderate age and wear. Holster is about good, with general scuffs and scratches; stitching is tight. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (C&R/PPT)
