Pre-war German Military issued K98k rifle. Mauser in Oberndorf am Neckar (S/42" code designates Mauser-Oberndorf and the "G" suffix stands for 1935 ). Bolt action, 24' barrel, internal 5 round magazine. The left side of the chamber & barrel is marked with a Weimar eagle & serial number, and “Mod.98.”on the receiver rail. The top of the chamber is marked “S/42G”. The right side of the receiver is marked with two proof marks and "K157" in square, early inspection stamp (Waffenamt). Before standardizing the familiar "eagle and swastika" The right side of the barrel below the rear sight is marked with two small “K167” marks. The full serial number "4933" is matched on the barrel, chamber, twice on the rear sight, both barrel bands, bolt, safety, rear of bolt floorplate, buttplate & triggerguard. The partial serial number "33" is marked on the bolt release, bayonet lug, front sight, extractor, magazine follower & bolt shroud. Many "K' proofs on the small parts, waffenamt eagle/37 marked on the front barrel band (J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Suhl). Standard K98k features, triangle front sight with raised knurled base, tangent rear sights, early smooth steel buttplate, cleaning rod. The wood stock has a semi-pistol grip, scallop for the bolt handle, disassembly disk, unmarked as it has been lightly sanded and varnished. The bore is very/good/bright, action is smooth, the wood is very good as refinished with no chips or cracks and the original blue is about 60% with edge/handling wear, the bottom metal, buttplate are in the white from handling, use.
