Extremely scarce. Featuring the duel tone, police acceptance "Eagle/F" proof with estimates around 1,500. German made DA/SA semi-automatic short recoil operated pistol chambered for 9x19mm ammunition, manufactured circa 1944. Third-Reich era Police issued sidearm features a correct dual-tone finish with a blued barrel and gray phosphate slide and frame including the controls. 4.9" tapered barrel, dovetailed fixed blade front sight marked "2", dovetailed notched rear sight, hinged locking piece assisted breechblock, smooth curved trigger, external hammer with a serrated spur, slide mounted serrated safety/decocker, smooth front strap, serrated heel magazine release, serrated take-down lever, serrated slide stop, dual recoil springs (separate), and two-piece serrated black plastic grips with a lanyard ring on the left grip panel. Matching serial numbers on the locking block, slide, barrel, and frame. Waffenamts Eagle/135 (Mauser Oberndorf) are marked on the left frame, right slide next to eagle/F stamp and the left barrel lug with eagle/swastika proof. Small eagle "N" nitro proof on the left slide. Slide marked 'BYF 43' which is a German ordnance code assigned to Mauser-Werke, Oberndorf am Neckar. The finish retained is approximately 96% with some superficial scratches, and edge wear. Bore is excellent/bright with strong rifling. Plastic grips are very good with some light scattered scratches. The action is smooth and crisp. All stampings are clear and sharp, highlighted in white. Pistol includes one original magazine marked "P.38." and an original black leather hard shell holster, the back is stamped with the large "P.38", maker marked "G.W.W." (Karl Grossfuss Metall- und Locierwarenfabrik, Döbeln, Saxony.) and Waffenamt "eagle/WaW392" and dared 1943.
