Maynard Model 1873 No. 10 Improved Mid-Range Target Rifle, by Mass. Arms Co., #23573, .40-60 cal., 32'' part-round blue barrel, case hardened frame, walnut buttstock with brass target buttplate, mid-range tang sight, two-leaf rear sight, and blue Beach combination front sight. Frame is dated 1865, and is surplus from the Civil War. Left side forward portion of frame marked ''Edward Maynard Patentee / May 27, 1851, Dec. 6, 1859''. Condition is fine to near excellent. Barrel retains approx. 92% lightly thinning blue; frame shows a similar amount of case coloring, with just some light thinning to forward portion. Stock with mild impressions and scratches along top of comb. Buttplate with even natural patina. Good functioning action and bright bore. An exceptional mid-19th Century target rifle.
