Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Medium Frame DA .38
SN: 6404 Double/single action revolver manufactured circa 1880's. Features nickel plated finish, checkered dark brown gutta percha grips, 5.5" barrel, fixed sights, sliding plate loading gate, twist open frame for unloading, bird's head shaped grip frame, "skull crusher" pointed butt with hole for lanyard. Bore is pitted & eroded with fair condition rifling. Retains 50% nickel plate, peeled or chipped away to reveal brown patina in many places. Grips are fair, missing small piece from left side butt. Action operates smoothly, locks up in single action, does not lock cylinder reliably in double action mode. Frame opening for ejection seems to work properly, hammer must be rocked back slightly to allow opening. Markings are crisp edged, some letters affected by tiny pits. Condition is NRA Very Good *** Antique Firearm ***
