Antique Indian Wars Era Merwin, Hulbert & Co. ''Pocket Army'' Single Action Revolver, #3003, .44-40 CF cal., 3.25'' barrel with integral blade front sight pivots right to open, marked ''Hopkins & Allen M'fg. Co., Norwich, Conn. U.S.A.'' followed by 1874-75-76-77 patent dates in two lines on left side; 6-shot cylinder having central ''scoop'' flutes; open-top frame with integral notch rear sight at top, marked ''Calibre/Winchester/1873'' on left side and ''Merwin, Hulbert & Co. N.Y./Pocket Army'' on right, has loading gate on right that slides downward for cartridge loading/extraction, and integral ''bird's head'' grips, straps with ''skull cracker'' butt having a lanyard hole; checkered two-piece hard rubber grips. Mfg'd ca. 1876-1880s, originally with full nickel-plate finish, case hardened hammer and trigger guard, and fire-blue trigger. Condition is near excellent retaining almost 99% smooth bright nickel with a minute bit of pinpricking at butt, muted case colors, and bright blue on trigger and hammer. Grips have sharp checkering and light highpoint wear, but no chips, cracks or losses. All edges and markings are sharp. Action is strong and smooth (but cylinder does not fully lock when hammer is down; lockup is tight when cocked); bore is brilliant with sharp rifling. Est.: $1,400-$1,800. (Antique)*
