Mid-WWII Japanese Type 95 NCO Sword, with Matching Numbered Scabbard. Machine made shinogi-zukuri shaped blade with bo-hi blood groove measures 67cm (26.37") in length, with a faint arsenal stamp next to the serial number 83908, and matching number and arsenal mark stamped on the mouth of the scabbard. Features a brass habaki collar, mid-war type thin black painted steel tsuba guard with black steel spacers and fuchi handle collar, painted aluminum tsuka handle, top latch locking mechanism, retaining screw and hollow upper screw with steel loop for sword knot. Dark brown painted steel scabbard with brass throat and single hanging ring. Condition is good, the blade mostly bright with scattered light rust stains from cutting something, and still retains its factory cutting edge with no evidence of re-sharpening. Brass habaki shows dark oxidation and grease stains. Tsuba guard shows wear on the edge and light age; handle shows wear to the paint on the high edges from use in the field. Scabbard shows numerous scuffs, scratches, minor paint losses, and light rust patina. Locking mechanism functions properly. Est.: $600-$900.
