Antique Minneapolis Fire Arms Co. ''The Protector'' Palm or ''Squeezer'' Pistol, #2939, .32 CF cal., 1.75'' round-to-octagonal barrel is unmarked and made without sights; 2.25'' round body with 7-shot internal rotary chambers, has finely-checkered brown hard rubber screw-off sideplates that are marked ''The Protector/Minn. Fire Arms Co.'' on left side inner metal ring, and ''(star) Patented March 6, 1883 (star)'' on right; top-hinged, spring-actuated squeezer grip at rear has bottom push-bar that cocks and fires the pistol. Originally with full nickel-plated finish. Condition is excellent. Metal retains approx. 97% original bright nickel (with 5 or 6 tiny spots of finish puckering), hard rubber sideplates are perfect. Action works as designed; smoothbore is spotless; the gun is probably unfired. Unlike its slightly larger cousin, the Chicago Palm Pistol, this was made without a matching, checkered hard rubber grip pad; only about 3,000 were mfg'd ca. 1891-92. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
