SINGLE ACTION ARMY SHERIFF'S MODEL DUAL CALIBER REVOLVER, DISPLAY CASE, MATCHING FACTORY BOX, & FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 44 Spcl / 44-40. S# SA41191. Bbl. 3". Third Generation SAA Sheriff's Model revolver mfg. by Colt in 1980. The left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT SHERIFF'S MODEL", with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top, and "COLT S.A.A. 44 CAL." marked on the right. Left side of frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, closely followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Side of cyl. is marked "44 SPL.". Frame exhibits a case color hardened finish, with remaining components including the cyl., bbl., trigger guard, and rear grip strap exhibiting Colt's Royal Blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. All numbers are matching and are present on the frame, cyl., and left side of the trigger guard and rear grip strap (beneath the grip panels). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching factory box, and a factory glass top French fitted walnut presentation case. This revolver is also accompanied by a Colt factory letter indicating that this example was 1 of 12 Third Generation Sheriff's Model revolvers shipped to the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, ME on November 13th of 1980, with the caliber listed as ".44 Dual caliber", Special Features listed as "Furnished with both .44/40 and .44 Special caliber cylinders", as well as listing the aforementioned display case. CONDITION: near new, with the frame retaining strong and vibrant case coloring, with remaining components retaining virtually all of their original factory Royal Blue finish overall. Metal components exhibit a thin layer of what appears to be factory grease. Mirror bore, exhibiting some light grease, while retaining well defined rifling throughout, Grips are excellent overall. Box shows some mild exterior wear and a couple of tears, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Display case is excellent overall. An extremely fine example of a Third Generation Colt Sheriff's Model revolver that one would find extremely difficult to upgrade from. (24-2353/MLW). MODERN. $1,500-2,000.
