LOCK MARKED M DICKSON RECONVERTED FROM PERCUSSION. Cal. 36. NSN. Bbl. 42 3/4" oct. fitted w/ semi buckhorn V notch rear & brass bead front sights. No marker's mark is found. Lock w/ flat plate having rebated tail is scroll engraved. "M. DICKSON" marked under faceted pan. Cherrywood stock extends to muzzle w/ 2" brass tip & attaches to bbl. w/ 3 brass side bolts. Classic New England style rectangular patch box w/ spear & point finial is on right side of stock. Release button is in top tang of brass crescent buttplate w/ 4" return. Brass trigger guard w/ faceted bow has finger spur at grip. Individual sideplates are of New England style w/ ovate & comma shape. Hickory ramrod is held by 2 beaded brass pipes & matching thimble. CONDITION: good as restored. bbl. dark brown pitted patina cleaned up at breech end does not appear to have been reconverted, but touch hole is bushed. Lock has had what is possibly original pan welded on inside giving a better seal against bbl. Serpentine cock & frizzen appear to be old parts as replacement. Top jaw & screw are new & frizzen does not fit pan well. Frizzen pivot screw & screw that is holding feather spring are definitely modern. Brass is nicely toned. Stock is refinished w/ heavy coat of lacquer. Stock is broken through wrist & is repaired. There are a number of repairs & chips along bbl. channel w/ front 2 feet of stock replaced. Trigger is loose in plate. Lock is not releasing properly. Patch box lid is not latching properly Poor bore, rifling evident. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19989/MGM/DS).
