FLINTLOCK PISTOL REGIMENTALLY MARKED “Q.O.R” “Y.C” “3”. Cal. 67. NSN. This pattern 1796 pistol has 9" barrel fitted with bridled steel ramrod stamped with British black powder proofs and crowned “GR” with broad arrow. Lock marked “TOWER” on tail is stamped with crown over “GR” in front of cock and with crowned broad arrow. Lock and reinforced cock are also line border engraved. Lock features integral rounded pan with high fence, bridled friction frizzen and featherspring with ball finial. Brass mounted stock extends to within 1 1/2" of muzzle with brass cap. Trigger guard is engraved “Q.O.R” “Y.C” “3” (Queen’s Own Royal Yeomanry Cavalry, pistol number 3). All other mounts are unmarked. CONDITION: good to very good. Metal parts cleaned to pewter gray. Lock with remnants of case hardening color(?). Stock is sound with some oil rubbed in over old possibly original finish with a large number of knocks and dings. Brass once cleaned is toning to gold. Bore is fairly shiny with light pitting. Lock is good. (01-21676/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
