Cal. 45 Colt. S# 92050. Bbl. 7 1/2", with Hartford address. It was common practice for the large New York houses to receive revolvers with "soft" finishes for outside engraving to suit their customers' tastes. The decoration on this revolver is indicative of use in Mexico or the western United States. This revolver has 50% coverage, including the frame, bbl., grip straps, and cyl. of a vine-type foliate scroll with punch-dot backgrounds. Full nickel finish. 2 piece pearl grips with raised carved steer head on the right panel. Black powder frame. Six shots of fluted cyl. Frame and grip straps have matching numbers. Bbl. has a non-matching number of "1693". Cyl. is unnumbered. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt Archive Properties letter listing the following information, " Serial Number: 92050 / Caliber: .45/c / Barrel Length: 7 1/2 / Finish: Soft / Type of Stocks: Not Listed / Special Features: Shipped in the 'soft' condition without final finishing for engraving outside the Colt factory. / Shipped To: Hartley & Graham / Address: New York, New York / Date of Shipment: May 9, 1883 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 25".
