PISTOL WITH STOCK & HARNESS. Cal. 7.63mm. S# 912386. Bbl. 5 5/8". C96 1930 commercial semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser for commercial sales. The top flat of the faceted breech is marked with Mauser's mfg. information, with a double crown over "U" proof stamped on the left quarter flat. Full S# is marked on the top of the bbl. extension behind the rear sight. Left side of the frame is marked with the Mauser banner logo, with Mauser's mfg. information marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a lustrous high polish blue finish overall, with the bolt, hammer, and lock frame remaining in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, floorplate, lock frame, and bbl./bbl. extension. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: wood shoulder stock marked with the Mauser banner logo fitted with a brown leather harness marked "WAFFENFABRIK/ SHORK/ MUNCHEN" on the rear and containing a cleaning rod. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear predominately on the underside of the bbl., on the side rails, and on the bottom forward-facing edge of the mag. well / floorplate, with some scattered handling marks present overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show a few scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise are good overall. Stock exhibits scattered marks, dings, and impressions but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Harness remains malleable, exhibiting mild wear, with some age-related cracking and crazing present overall. PROVENANCE: the collection of Curtis H. Halvorson. (23-5826/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
