NICELY REFURBISHED PARKER AHE (GRADE 6) HAMMERLESS

SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 154547. It appears that this gun was refurbished in Belgium & currently sports 30" 1/4” bbls., deeply roll stamped w/ Parker’s Meriden address & Acme Steel on concave matted game rib. Bbl. flats have had Belgian proofs removed & have been restamped in Parker style w/ “A” w/ out a circle (Acme), “4” (weight), & “6” (grade). The initials “JG” & an asterisk are also present. Left side of lump is stamped w/ serial number & there is no frame marking on bottom of lump. Case hardened action has correct Parker markings on water table along w/ Belgian nitro proofs (The Parker Identification ledger does list this gun as an AHE w/ capped pistol grip). Action features automatic safety & double triggers. Single beads are around fences & top lever has filed in chevron. Action is engraved in “A” style w/ near full coverage of small scroll w/ in scroll & geometric borders. Double dogs are on sides & game birds are on fences & front parts of action. A pointing setter is on bottom of action & a portrait of a trio of foxes is on triggerplate. A running stag is on triggerguard bow. Serial number is on tang. New capped pistol grip buttstock of nicely marbled European walnut measures 14 1/4” over skeleton steel buttplate. Sunken side panels are checkered & terminate in fleur-de-lis drop points. Checkering at grip is of correct “A” grade style w/ fleur-delis flares into comb. Hard rubber grip cap has large oval gold base engraved “Dr. J. W. P.” “1910”. Matching splinter ejector forend has nicely filed steel tip. Patent date on iron & usual Deeley type Parker release. MEASUREMENTS: BORE DIAMETER: left .724, right .722. BORE RESTRICTIONS: left .028 Mod, right .013 Light Mod. WALL THICKNESS: left .035, right .030. DAH: 2 1/2”. DAC: 1 9/16”. WEIGHT: 8 lbs. 2 oz. CONDITION: fine as completely refurbished bbls. retaining nearly all of good quality rust blue. Action retains nearly all of a new case hardening color over some scattered pitting. Appears that engraving has been recut w/ deepening of scroll & new outlines to dogs & game birds. Newer stocks retain essentially all of their original varnish finish w/ some minor subsequent handling marks. Checkering is well done & shows very little wear. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. All A grades are quite scarce w/ the Parker Story estimating fewer than 200 hammerless guns w/ Acme Steel barrels. (21-3555/MGM). CURIO. $12,500-17,500.
