NICELY RESTOCKED EARLY STYLE A. H. FOX  DE  GRADE
DOUBLE SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 5/8". S# 19391 (1911). Bbls. 30", fitted w/ matted concave rib marked “Krupp Fluid Steel Made By” “A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA”. There are 3" triangles of varying size simple scroll at breech ends. Bbl. flats have edges polished & damascened & are stamped w/ Fox proofs, grade & S#. Cocking slide is also damascened. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped w/ Krupp Steel info. Case hardened Fox type boxlock action w/ rotary bolt features non automatic safety & dbl. triggers. Action engraved in early “D” style w/ near full coverage nicely cut open shaded scroll w/ in line & geometric borders. This scroll frames game bird scenes on sides over “Ansley H. Fox” w/ a pair of standing quail w/ fence line in background on left side, & a pair of standing woodcock in alder thicket on right. A setter & pointing pointer are on bottom of action. Trigger guard w/ matching scroll & vacant banner on bow has S# on tang. Newly made rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock is of an appropriate piece of well marbled & somewhat figured European walnut & measures 14 1/2" over red “old English” pad. Closely spaced checkering w/ line borders at grip & on side panels. Matching splinter ejector forend has Deeley type release & ejector patent dates along w/ S# on interior of iron, which is vine border engraved. MEASUREMENTS: Bore diameter: Left .725, Right .724. Bore restrictions: Left .024 (Mod), Right .031 (Full) (driven bird). DAH: 2 5/16". DAC: 1 3/8+". Cast: 0. WEIGHT: 7lbs., 4oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nicely made, folding leather wrap around case w/ brass hardware. CONDITION: very fine as partially restored. Bbls. retaining over 80% original blue w/ a few scuffs & light marks, thinning on sides. Action retains about 60-70% original case hardening color, fading to silver on fences, sharp edges & around bottom. Trigger guard has been polished & is ready for reblue. Stocks retain nearly all of their original finish w/ a few minor handling marks. Forend latch spring is weak, detaching very easily. Shiny bores w/ a hint of frosting in right bbl. Ejectors are strong & in time. Case near new, has a few rubs. (021-1615/MGM). CURIO. $6,500-9,500.
