NICELY RESTORED L.C. SMITH SPECIALTY GRADE EJECTOR

SXS SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# RE91287. The 30" bbls. with matted concave rib are marked "L.C. SMITH. Specialty GRADE" and with Hunter Arms info on tops of bbls. Bbl. flats are stamped with serial number, grade and Hunter proofs. Splinter is of reinforced type. Case hardened regular weight L.C. Smith sidelock action features nonautomatic safety and Hunter One trigger which is marked so on trigger plate. Action is engraved in specialty style with large scroll within line borders. Lockplates are engraved with matching scroll which surrounds game scenes. A pair of quail are on ground on left lockplate and a duck takes wing from marsh on right. Blued trigger guard with scroll on bow has serial number on tang. Long capped pistol grip buttstock of well figured American walnut measures 14 1/8" over ribbed hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering wraps over top of grip. A silver oval engraved "GJH" is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend with inlet ebony tip has J-spring release with secondary release button in guitar shaped escutcheon. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .728", L .728". Restriction: R .018" (MOD), L .018" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .032", L .032". STOCK: DAH: 2 11/16". DAC: 1 1/2+". LOP: 14 1/8". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 8 lb. CONDITION: fine as completely refinished. Metal parts retaining over 95% professionally replicated finishes with only a few minor dings and marks in rust blue of bbls. and slight silvering of action. Triggerplate has not been recolored and shows gray to brown patina. Stocks retain most of a dull oil refinish. Sharp edges somewhat rounded. Checkering with wear has been cleaned up. Bores are bright with a bit of frosting toward breech ends. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. Trigger appears to work well. (22-5222/MGM). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
