BORE SXS SHOTGUN WITH CRYSTAL INDICATORS. Cal. 10 Ga., 2 7/8". S# 32686. The Premier grade was the highest quality normally cataloged at the time this gun was made. This gun has 30" fine 3 stripe damascus bbls. engraved "W & C. SCOTT & SON. PATENT TRIPLEX LEVER GRIP (The Premier Quality) 10 GT CASTLE STREET REGENT CIRCUS LONDON" on slightly swamped game rib. Bbl. flats stamped w/ London black powder proofs, 10 B & 12 M. S#'s are stamped on bottom of bbls. Robust sidelock action is marked w/ patent information & "The Premier Gun" on water table & features automatic safety, pivoting third fastener engaging clover shaped doll's head extension, patent gas checks & dbl. triggers. Back spring locks fitted w/ patented crystal indicators giving a view of gold plated tumblers. Action & lockplates engraved w/ 50% scroll surrounding scenes of waterfowl which are very meticulously shaded & detailed. A swan is on left side of action & goose & ibis are on right. Left lockplate shows a trio of geese while the right has four other waterfowl of varying breed. Bottom of action & trigger plate engraved w/ a scene of courting storks & a heron perched on a limb is on trigger guard bow. "W & C SCOTT & Son patent" is on long riband along top lever. Left front of action engraved w/ maker's name & "PATENT BLOCK SAFETY" "HAMMERLESS". Trigger guard tang extends to horn grip cap & is engraved w/ S# at grip & castle logo at tail. Finely marbled & lightly figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 1/2" over Silver type pad w/ spur. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter forend w/ nicely filed steel tip has Scott patent push button release. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: bore diameter: right .777", left .777". Restriction: right .009" (IC), left .026" (Mod). Min. Wall Thickness: right .040", left .040", STOCKS: LOP: 14 1/2". DAC: 1 3/4". DAH: 2 15/16". Cast slightly off. WEIGHT: 9 lbs., 8 oz. CONDITION: fine as restored. Bbls. retaining nearly all of good quality rebrown w/ good contrast to pattern. Action retains nearly all of a recoloring possibly w/out hardening (torch?). Engraving remains sharp & clear. Stocks retain nearly all of renewed hand rubbed finish w/ a few subsequent light marks. Pad is new. Checkering competently recut. Bores are bright & shiny w/out noted problems. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Mechanically fine. (01-19507/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
