Rifle. Bolt-Action. "Cavalry Carbine. First variation, with two holes for cleaning rod. Produced 1911-1942. Entered service in 1912, the 44th year of the Meiji reign, Type 44. Ground Chrysanthemum. Japanese military bolt action rifle features 19" barrel, protected blade front sight, V notch rear sight with flip-up elevator ladder, straight bolt handle, folding spike bayonet, butt compartment, side mounted sling swivels, manual safety, hinged floorplate. Hook located below the front sight on the right side, replicating the quillon of the type 30 bayonet for bayonet fencing techniques of the period, and for stacking. Mismatched bolt, bayonet housing, and dust cover. Bore is good with strong rifling. Retains 75% blued finish, with edge wear, and handling loss on the triggerguard/floorplate. Bare metal where Mum is ground off. Bolt/buttplate are in the white, very good condition. Wood is good condition with many small scrapes, scratches & dents, Observed markings are crisp. No importer marks observed. Reproduction sling attached. NRA Condition-Good. C&R firearm.
