Nepalese Snider Breech Loading Rifle with Bayonet, #NVSN, .577 cal., 36.7" barrel, blued lockplate with bright barrel and fittings; brass forend cap, sideplate nails, trigger guard, and buttplate. Hardwood stock, blade front sight, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with "V"-notch; graduated in Nepalese numbers. Includes an iron rammer that is slightly bent. The Nepalese bayonet is similar to a British 1853 Pattern and is stamped with Nepalese numbers on the right side. Bayonet is in good condition, with few impressions to the blade edge, and areas of patina. Receiver tang and trigger guard tang are marked with Nepalese characters and there are matching Nepalese numbers on the breechblock , all three barrel bands, and buttplate. Condition overall is good, showing darkening and patina to the barrel and lockplate assembly. Brass parts have darkened with age. Wood with a few light cracks behind the lockplate and forward of the buttplate; showing darkening around the receiver. Action block operates smoothly but will only close if the pin is manually pushed forward. Hammer operates slowly, holds on half-cock and slips forward on full-cock. Bright bore rates good, with intermittent spots of patina, and defined rifling. Est.: $400-$700. (Antique)
