ONE ON ONE, GUIDED FREE RANGE BARBARY SHEEP (AOUDAD) HUNT IN TEXAS
Hunt Barbary Sheep next year with renowned LOH Outfitters in Texas. These hunts are quickly becoming favorites of big game hunters and sheep hunters alike. Barbary sheep, also known as aoudad, were introduced to Texas and New Mexico in the 1950s as a game animal. The first release of aoudad occurred in the Davis Mountains in 1957. Since then, they have been introduced to other areas of Texas, and they have become a favorite hunt for Western hunters. Barbary sheep are truly an amazing animal, primarily living in rocky, cactus flats; their diet consists of 90% cactus and yucca. This enables the sheep to go longer than other animals without visiting waterholes. This makes them very interesting to hunt and makes for a lot of time spent behind a good set of optics. These animals create a very special and unique hunt.
This hunt is a free range and fair chase hunt that will take place on over 20,000 acres of private land in Texas. There are no high fences but there are outstanding sheep populations. The hunt is a 1 on 1 guided hunt with 5-star accommodations at the ranch houses.
This hunt has 100% opportunity and typically 100% success. Hunters can reasonably expect to harvest a 30” ram with the potential for much larger.
This is a 4-day hunt that takes place near Fort Davis and Alpine, Texas with hunt dates between December 2023 to May 2024.
The best hunt times are Mid-February 2024 through May. Hunters can fly into Midland, Texas and rent a car for a 2 hour (+/-) drive to where the guides will meet you. The accommodations include great food and a fully stocked bar at the ranch house. You will be hunting 1 on 1 with your guide from LOH and they can tailor the hunt to anyone’s physical needs.
