STOCK AND ZEISS VARIABLE SCOPE. Cal. 270 Win. S# SG49653. The 24" tapered rnd. bbl. is fitted w/ 5" island base for front scope mount & a Williams U-notch rear sight which is adj. for eye relief. Sourdough blade front sight is in matted ramp. Rear of bbl. is marked "Original", w/ Mauser logo & "IC" (1982) Obendorf proofs for 270 Win. Receiver ring is stamped w/ serial number & fitted with ERA Q-D base. Action slide has Mauser markings on both sides w/ patent info also on right. Bolt has push/pull safety at right and action is fitted with double set triggers. Bolt release is on right side. Importer's name and address are on front part of trigger guard. Pistol grip stock of well marbled European walnut measures 15 1/8" over black open sided pad. Stock features right hand Tyrolean cheekpiece and sling loops. Stock has decorative carving in place of checkering and w/ other areas which appear to be factory style. Grip has large fishscale carving in point pattern. Forend has matching scales flanked by relief carved oak leaves and acorns and a band of oak leaves is around butt. An oak leaf and acorn are also carved toward muzzle. Right side of butt has relief carving of fox vexing two rising ducks. Bottom of grip is relief carved with monogram "WU"(?). Rifle is mounted with Zeiss Diavari-Z 2.5x10 rail scope with crosshair and 3 post reticle in ERA Q-D mounts. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black plastic case. CONDITION: very fine. Metal parts retain nearly all of their fine factory blue. Stock retains nearly all of its factory oil finish with some minor water spotting. Bore is bright & shiny. Mechanically fine. Scope is also very fine w/ considerable water spotting in exterior lacquer. Optically clear. (22-4889/MGM). MODERN. $2,000-3,000.
