ENGRAVED BREECHBLOCK AND ZEISS SCOPE. Cal. 8x68S S# G08267. The 25 1/2" lightweight bbl. is fitted with 1 standing 1 folding rear sight on dovetailed island base which also holds scope claw base. Sourdough blade front sight is in checkered, sleeved on ramp. Sling loop is also sleeved on. Rear of bbl. is marked "Original Mauser" and has caliber and April 1968 proofs on left side. Special telescoping action has rear claw base on receiver ring. Bolt with small round knob has transverse safety. Sliding breech portion is stamped with Mauser banner, model, and Mauser's famous Oberndorf address. Sides of slide are deep relief engraved with game scenes with bugling stag and hind in mountain meadow on left and two chamoix in tall mountains on right. Rosewood capped pistol grip Monte Carlo stock of lightly fiddle figured European walnut measures 14 1/2" over brown "Whiteline" pad and features swept right hand cheekpiece, cartridge trap in butt with space for 3 cartridges, rosewood forend tip with white line spacer, and aluminum trigger guard holding double set triggers. Point pattern checkering at grip and on sides of forend is of skipline pattern. Rifle is mounted with Zeiss DIATAL-D 6x42 rail scope with crosshair and three post reticle in claw mounts, rear with windage. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: comes with black plastic case. CONDITION: fine, bbl. and action retaining about 90% original blue, coin finished sliding breech section remains bright. Stock retains about 80% of its original hand rubbed oil finish worn through on sharp edges and with a large number of minor marks. Bore is bright and shiny. Action is smooth. Scope has quite a few marks and scratches in its exterior lacquer. Optically clear. (22-4959/MGM). CURIO. $1,800-2,500.
