ORIGINAL RUSSIAN PPS-43 CURIO SMG.

Cal. 7.62x25. S# 619. Bbl. 10". Manufactured in 1945 at Factory No. 828 NKMV, Moscow. Open bolt Russian SMG. Top folding metal stock. Blued finish on exposed metal surfaces. Unique ventilated barrel shroud which is integral to upper receiver portion, terminated w/ a loop style muzzle brake, reminiscent of those found often on artillery. Protected post front sight w/ fixed rear sight consisting of folding notch w/ 2 positions, marked “10” & “20”. Factory 828 used the letter "C" as a factory marking, which appears on top of the receiver, behind the ejection port & the serial number has a two letter cyrillic prefix followed by three numbers just forward of the rear sight. Those 3 numbers are the ones that would become the recognized serial number for US imported guns. The 2-piece black plastic pistol grips also contain the letter C inside a double diamond on each side. On the lower receiver rail, below the bolt charging handle, at the extreme forward end, is a tiny spot of weld indicating that this weapon may be a once reactivated DEWAT. MAGS: 1 steel, curved 30 round. CONDITION: Exposed metal surfaces still enjoy the majority of finish coverage w/ some freckling earned over the years w/ scattered thinning. Small area of removed finish coinciding w/ weld spot, just rear of mag well. Plastic grips are in very nice condition w/ no obvious visible blemishing. Bore is bright w/ strong rifling illustrating some light pitting. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. PROVENANCE: Formerly on loan to Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-1572/JZ). CURIO. CLASS III. $12,000-16,000.
