RIFLE. Cal. about 44. NSN. Bbl. 32 1/4" oct. w/ patent breech & rounded muzzle for bullet starter. Bbl. diameter at muzzle 15/16". Top flat is marked "O. SCHNEELOCK MAKER / BROOKLYN. E. D.". Dovetail mounted German silver blade front sight & flat top elevator adj. rear sight. Unmarked plain iron lockplate. Dbl. set triggers. Key fastened half length cheekpiece walnut stock. German silver fittings include circular lid patch box, crescent buttplate, toeplate, finger curl trigger guard, sideplate escutcheon, nose cap, thimble & 2 key escutcheons. Stock is fitted w/ sling swivels. Brass tipped hickory ramrod is held on iron under rib by 2 iron pipes. WEIGHT: 8 lbs. 13.6 oz. CONDITION: bbl. retains 75% light & faded browned finish. Lockplate is fading to gray. Stock has moderately worn original finish showing numerous scratches & sm. dents w/ hairline crack behind lock.
